What do i think? Well, am inclined to say yes there is the one meant for you but i will say God grants you your heart's desire. We all have a list of the qualities we want our special person to have, to share mine: i want a man who is hardworking, taller than me (am short but i love my height), handsome of course, one who is born again and spiritually higher or at par with me ( this is major especially since am born again), loving, caring and a man who can make me laugh! That's my list, don't know yours? Some may say having a list is ideological and impossible since some of the demands made in our so called lists are too high a standard to be met by the average man. But where is your faith? The Bible says
Matthew 7:9-11
New International Version (NIV)
9 “Which of you, if your son asks for bread, will give him a stone? 10 Or if he asks for a fish, will give him a snake11 If you, then, though you are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give good gifts to those who ask him!
So if you want a man who is all that and more, won't your Father in heaven give it to you? But wait, what if you have twisted requests such as a married man, will God give that to you? Nooo way!! Your desires should always be in line with His will. There is truly no two way with that. So, yes, you may find the one, but is He of God??
Am in the same boat.. Yeah, the girl is about to spill them beans:
I met him during a church service, my Pastor and my friend asked me to a do, a sort of the Jeff Koinange bench thing with this guy who had a total lifestyle change and was now body building and not fat as he was teased during his childhood. The man i have to admit is veeeeery fine, he is quite the handsome one with his body all chiseled out and muscled up, this man is a really nice piece of God's art. :-) I would blush occasionally during the interview but only to my knowledge( girls can hide these things you know) . He was very calm, and maintained during the interview, didn't really take any of my jokes on the bench quite well by laughing out loud, only a polite smile and moved on to answering the question. And so it was a wrap, the service was over and so was the interview. Being that we go to the same church, i was bound to meet him again and again . And that is exactly what happened. I was not quite the fan of him after our interview, i felt he was too quiet and almost boring to me since he didn't talk to me as enthusiastically as other people did ( I warm up to people, i expect the same from them :-) ) And so that was life, a normal hi never hurt anyone did it? Worse still we were in leadership together which meant we would sit in long meeting but still nothing.
However, in one of those meetings emerged our interaction point: a seminar to Migori was due and we just HAD to send representatives from our church. I was quite unsure since at the time i was expecting a call from a prospective employer hence my hesitation to commit fully to the trip. He together with my brother and other leaders were politely coerced to go on the trip. He particularly said he had to confirm and after a phone call, he did confirm his availability for it. At this point there was a sly smile on my face (don't ask me why) and that was that.
Several miles away from Nairobi, in Migori, we arrived and the place was well very substandard to be quite honest, horrific is more like it. It was high school reincarnated but the worst scenario ever. The dorms were bad, the beds metal like and squeaky each time you moved, the mattress thin as a slice of bread, the food horrific, ( one of the nights, we had to buy fish from the town and boy it was amazing). Fast forward to that evening, we were walking to the town while catching up with the guyz, i happened to catch up with him and we got talking and talking. I was quite surprised at the whole gesture, i thought he didn't talk, wasn't friendly, shock on me was that he did all these and was quite interesting to be honest. Also very knowledgeable and wise on topics related to God, i was utterly impressed. On our way back to Nairobi, we happened to sit next to each other and we reallllly talked, it was more of getting to know the person behind the name so we did 21 questions. We found out we secretly admired each other and never told a soul...
Arrival in Nairobi was awesome but sad at the moment we landed, i didn't want that blissful moment in the bus to end, but reality had come rudely knocking and sadly i gave in or rather i had no choice. It was raining that day and so after boarding a matatu home and arriving safely, i the pretty sweet girl texted everyone including him abnd others we had closely interacted with during the trip and said all the niceties that i could say. He responded and to be quite honest, that became a habit... Wana know what happened next.. like this and find out in the next edition.......
